James Brown’s death could mean more bad news for his partner, backup singer Tomi Rae Hynie. The couple were not legally married as Hynie was already a married woman when she married Brown. Although she later annulled the previous marriage, it was never counted as she and Brown never remarried.

Just hours after Brown passed, the 36-year-old widow returned to her home, but her late husband’s lawyer and accountant, David Cannon, wouldn’t let her in. ”This is my home. I don’t have any money.
