Lisa Marie Presley broke down in tears when she first heard her voice added to her father’s original 1969 recording of “In The Ghetto“.
“We had two hours to lay down my vocals,” she says about recording the song to honor the 30th anniversary of the legendary singer’s death.. “So the next morning, I heard the rough … and … I’ve never cried when I’ve done anything … ever … but I just lost it when I heard it.”
She continues, “People have been asking me to do another duet with him forever, but I had to do my own thing before I went back there,” Presley, 39, told USA Today. “So I was ready. I just had to figure out what would be right. And suddenly it came to me, all at the eleventh hour.”
Lisa did a similar project for the 20th anniversary of her father’s death, but “Don’t Cry Daddy” was never released commercially.
An accompanying music video, which features images of both father and daughter, will be posted on Spinner.com on Friday (17.08.07).
The song will also be available on iTunes. Proceeds will benefit the New Orleans branch of Presley Place, a transitional housing facility for homeless families.

Britney Spears is featured looking fierce on the cover of Allure September 2007 issue. Brit missed 4 scheduled interviews but ended up doing the photo-shoot and reportedly stripped down to the waist,“for no apparent reason.”
According to Allure editor Linda Wells: “She was entirely unselfconscious. She took off her wig and then stripped down to the waist, for no apparent reason, before sitting for hair and makeup. She was agreeable and co-operative but that was the last we saw of her… she missed four appointments for an interview.”
In related news, Britney Spears’ assistant/cousin/pal Alli Sims, her bodyguard, and former assistant Shannon funk have all been served papers by Fed-Ex’s camp. The papers are deposition subpoenas compelling the three to testify about Spears’s parenting skills.

Around 50,000 die hard Elvis Presley fans are expected to gather in Memphis tonight (August 15) to perform a candlelit vigil to mark the 30th anniversary of the superstar’s death.
At 8.30pm Memphis, USA time tonight, the gates of the Graceland mansion, where Presley used to live, will be opened to fans.
They will be invited to walk up the Graceland driveway to Presley’s gravesite and back carrying a candle each as a mark of respect.
It is expected that the ceremony will last for around ten hours, finishing in the early morning hours of Thursday (August 16), the date of Presley’s untimely death.
The event is the centrepiece of a week of Elvis events in Memphis, collectively dubbed “Elvis Week“.

Courtney for the 100th time on her troubled past: “I cracked. And I cracked in public, and so I lost all of my credibility. For many years, I took pills. I felt like I had this dirty secret. Other people can have glasses of wine and things like that because they’re normal people who can do things like that. But if you’re allergic to that stuff, you just are, and you can’t.”
Courtney on young Hollywood’s dieting habits: “I hate reading magazines where the actresses are saying ‘Broccoli and fish, broccoli and fish.’ You liars. You bulimic liars.”
Courtney on her own weight loss: “I’ve lost a lot of weight, and I have done it through being quite disciplined… Some people think it’s about weight loss, but it’s about detoxing.”
