The body of Anna Nicole Smith was finally embalmed yesterday, more than a week after her death. After signing confidentiality agreements and being searched for cameras, two Florida embalmers began work Saturday morning and finished around noon. “They did an excellent job and the body will be ready for viewing with no problem” the Broward County medical examiner said. “She will look virtually like she looked in real life… The body’s well under lock and key and inaccessible to anybody who doesn’t have a key.”

The body remains at the medical examiner’s facility, awaiting developments in a Fort Lauderdale courthouse, where Anna’s estranged mother Virgie Arthur and Howard K Stern, resume their battle tomorrow over where the Playboy playmate should be buried.

Understandably Howard K Stern wants to bury Anna in the Bahamas next to her late son, Daniel; Virgie wants to bring Anna back to her native Texas.

The Broward County medical examiner held a press conference on Anna Nicole’s autopsy. Broward County Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Joshua Perper revealed that the cause of death is unknown. However, they have been able to rule out several speculated causes of death, such as blunt force trauma, gunshot wounds or asphyxia, meaning she did not suffocate to death on her own vomit as previously reported.

Dr. Joshua Perper believes that the death might be due to either natural causes, medication, or a combination of both. He revealed Anna had a small bruise on her back, which probably resulted from a fall in the bathtub earlier in the week. A small amount of blood was found in her body which he says is a result of the terminal shock Anna experienced before she died.

Although prescription drugs were found in Anna’s hotel room the autopsy does not indictate she took them. Blood tests are yet to be performed and the real cause of death may take upto 5 weeks to determine.

The late playmate’s mother and her mother’s husband are heading to the Bahamas today to file with children’s services for immediate custody of Dannielynn. Meanwhile, a California judge ruled Anna’s body must be preserved until at least February 20, when a hearing will be held to resolve a paternity dispute over her baby.

In an unexpected twist to the case, Zsa Zsa Gabor’s current husband, 59 year old Prince Frederick von Anhalt, claims he is the real father of Dannielynn Hope. He supposedly had a decade long affair with Anna. He said, ”if you go back from September, she wasn’t with one of those guys, she was with me.” His wife’s former publicist has lashed out at his claims calling von Anhalt a “a chronic fabricator who likes to inject himself into current events to see himself on television.”

The autopsy on Anna Nicole Smith began this morning which should answer a few of our questions. The other issue being addressed is the pending paternity suit over Anna’s five month old daughter.

Anna’s son, Daniel Smith, died off an apparent drug overdose, just days after the birth of Dannielynn. Since then she has been in the middle of an ugly paternity dispute over the father between her partner Howard K Stern and former boyfriend and alleged babydaddy Larry Birkhead.

Anna was ordered to submit to a paternity test. The deadline was Feb 21st, but with Anna no more, an emergency hearing will take place today to decide whether a court-ordered DNA sample can be taken from her body to help determine the biological father.

Larry Birkhead’s attorney, Debra Opri, said her DNA experts insist that, to get a good sample, they have to obtain some of Anna’s DNA within 48 hours of her death. His lawyer has also stated that she feels the baby should be put in care of Anna’s mother while this entire mess is sorted out.

As for Larry Birkhead, in a message on his blog he writes:
