Jessica Simpson’s recent hospital stay was triggered by more than just an “infection.” A source tells Star the singer was hospitalized after months of hard drinking with beau Tony Romo. Even more shocking, Jess asked for a pregnancy test!
Ashlee Simpson’s big sis was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in L.A. on March 28 and remained there for four days. Reps for the singer said she was being treated for a “kidney infection,” but an insider says it was more than that. Jessica’s health problems were “brought on by drinking an obscene amount of alcohol,” says the source. “She was treated for a kidney infection, a bladder infection and a urinary tract infection.”
Adding to her distress, anxious Jessica asked doctors to give her a pregnancy test! “She was a nervous wreck,” says the insider. “She was three weeks late and convinced she was pregnant. She was feeling really weak and really scared. She was unraveling.”
Since her divorce from Nick Lachey in 2006, Jessica has dated a string of men, including musician John Mayer. But after hooking up with Dallas Cowboys hunk Tony in November, insiders say her partying and drinking are out of control.
“She used to keep her drinks to a minimum, because she’s very conscientious about the calories,” says a source. “But Tony and his buddies really party hard, and I think they expect Jessica to keep up with them. But she is like a third of their weight and just can’t hold as much as they can.”

After reportedly setting up some of his daughters’ past dalliances, it looks like Joe Simpson is looking to find love himself. Which wouldn’t be an issue, if he weren’t already married. Apparently, at Perez Hilton’s party last week, Joe was seen hanging out with some pals (including Ashlee’s ex Ryan Cabrera) without his wedding ring on, approaching several ladies. “He was flirting with one group of girls who either didn’t know who he was or didn’t care, and they just grabbed their drinks, laughed and walked away,” a source told Page Six.

John Mayer appears to have had a very unsubtle dig at former flame Jessica Simpson in his latest blog.
Though he asks us not read too much into the message to an ‘ex-lover’, I’ve been left questioning how we could possibly not.
He writes: “I was sitting in the airport lounge this morning when I started scribbling out lyrics and such.
“Don’t read too far into this on a personal level. (There are no hidden messages). I just thought it sums up how crazy love can be.
“Dear Ex Lover,
“Perhaps you didn’t understand the last time I told you to stop contacting me, so I’ll do my best to spell it out for you. I do not wish to have you in my life anymore. I don’t know how much more clear I can be about it. It would serve you best to move on with your life and find someone who can put up with you, because I’m done trying.
“I hope this is enough closure for you.
“Goodbye.
“P.S. If you need me, you know how to find me.”
Poor Jessica. First she gets slammed by Dallas Cowboy fans for distracting boyfriend Tony Romo’s performances and now this.
John’s public note is just plain vicious and unneccesary. A discreet word might be a better option.
