Hot 99.5, the Washington, D.C. radio station that supposedly paid money to bail Bobby Brown out of jail on condition he appear on the show for a week, is now claiming that the former New Edition singer bailed on them.

Ten minutes into the deal Bobby abruptly ended what was supposed to be his first of many on-air phone interviews.

Bobby, the has-been singer and estranged husband of Whitney Houston is now trying to spin the story, saying it wasn’t the station that bailed him out but rather “a bunch friends.”

His lawyer, Phaedra Parks, clarified a bit. She says that she had, in fact, spoken to Hot 99.5 about this deal, but that “they never paid a penny,” and that Bobby’s brother actually brought the money.

Hot 99.5 begs to differ and has the proof: an email between its program director and Bobby’s lawyer, describing a deal in which he would be paid $27,638 to “work for” the station.

After sitting three days behind bars, a DC radio station offered to pay $19,150.00 for Bobby Brown’s release in exchange for a weeks worth of work at the radio station. Bobby was left with no choice but to agree. “We are really doing it for his children, we sympathize with Bobby and hope that this will give him a head start and will put him back on track”, said Hot 99.5’s Kane, the radio station Bobby can thank for bailing him out.

Bobby was arrested on his way into his daughter’s cheerleading competition after failing to pay child support fees to his first baby mama, Kim Ward. He had faced up to 90 days behind bars if he didn’t come up with the money.

The once famous singer who split from Whitney Houston in September and is currently going through a bitter divorce, has been struggling to meet monthly payments, according to his lawyer, Phaedra Parks. “Although this agreement was put in place when he was Bobby Brown the star, this agreement is being enforced when he is not always able to find work,” Parks told the Associated Press. “He hasn’t made an album in quite some years.”

Bobby Brown was arrested and jailed last night for failing to appear in court and paying child support. Bobby owes money to his ex-girlfriend, Kim Ward. The couple have two teenagers together, Bobby II and LaPrincia. "Kim always finds these hearing to be extremely difficult," her lawyer, Linda Medonis, said. "This is not the route she wants it go but when he doesn’t pay for a few months it becomes a real hardship for her."

Bobby, who was on his way to his daughter’s cheerleading competition, was cuffed in the parking lot of her school to avoid any embarrassment to anyone. According to TMZ, Bobby is still sitting behind bars because "He can’t afford to pay his debt."

"Mr. Brown is not financially able to make the payment ($19,100) to court," his attorney says, adding that she is currently making her "best effort" to work out some sort of deal with the court. When asked about the fortune he amassed during his days as a world famous musician, Parks replied, "He was an 80s icon, that was 20 years ago."

A very healthy and happy looking Whitney Houston made her official post- Bobby Brown debut as she escorted Clive Davis to the Carousel of Hope Ball. When asked how she felt, Whitney said: ”I feel great.” Here’s hoping that Whitney finally has that comeback we’ve all been waiting for!

 

The Diva (Whitney Houston) and the bonafide bad boy (Bobby Brown) are divorcing after 14 years of marriage. Whitney, not Bobby, filed the paperwork. Not that we think that Bobby minds as word on the street is he’s already moved in with the self-proclaimed “Video Vixen,” Karrine “Superhead” Steffans. 

Although Whitney has been having problems in her personal life, this hasn’t stopped her from attempting another comeback with the help of Jive Records founder Clive Davis. The two have apparently been working together for a while now and have already picked out six songs for Whitney to record.

Because of her last screw-up of a comeback fell completely flat, the singer will reportedly not write or produce work on the new project and will instead concentrate on showcasing her powerhouse vocals.
