Just when everything seemed to be getting back to some semblance of normality for the troubled pop star, she ended up in a car crash this weekend.

She added to her legal woes after reportedly causing a three-car pile-up on Los Angeles’ Ventura Freeway.

It all happened during one of Britney’s usual evening spins in her Mercedes with her bodyguard.  While on the freeway her car accidentally bumped into another motorist in heavy traffic on her way home, according to reports. The car she rear-ended then hit the vehicle in front.

All three cars were pulled over by police at a nearby petrol station, where the authorities tested to see if Spears had been drinking, according to an eyewitness.  The bystander, who saw the accident and the commotion that followed, said: “Britney just appeared to lose concentration and drove into the car in front of her.”

In the past 12 months, the singer has been charged with a hit and run offence and driving without a valid licence.

23-year old Ashlee Simpson is engaged to her sensitive rocker dreamboat, Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy. Yes, that noise you hear is the shattering of 12-year old hearts around the world. Ashlee announced their good news on Pete’s website with this message:

“We know there has been a lot of speculation recently about Pete and I and we wanted our fans to be the first to know, because you guys are the best. Yes, we are thrilled to share that we are happily engaged. Thank you for all of your support and well wishes - it means the world to us. We consider this to be a very private matter, but we wanted you to hear it straight from us.”

The singers are, however, remaining tight-lipped about the rumor that Ashlee is pregnant with a fall out baby, which possibly spurred the speedy engagement. Whatevs - can’t a famous couple just simply be in luv? All engagement presents of eyeliner and black nail polish can be sent directly to the happy pair. Mazel tov!

How in the world did these two get together! They have a passionate love of publicity in common, so it makes sense that this pair would try to stir up some more attention. We’re guessing that Kathy Griffin suggested they get together - it will provide some tasty fodder for her TV show “My Life on the D-List.” However, at this point, Britney’s ex boyfriend Adnan is more of a D-lister than Kathy is. The pair cruised to Rodeo Drive in his convertible where they had lunch and shopped at Victoria’s Secret. Don’t think for a minute that Kathy gave up her billionaire boyfriend Steve Wozniak for Adnan.

After six years of dating, Beyonce and Jay-Z finally got married in NYC on Friday, a friend of the couple confirmed to People magazine.

Though there is no official confirmation, the friend says, “It happened earlier this evening. Jay wanted it to be a really private affair – close friends and family.”

The ceremony was followed by a lavish party at the rapper’s Tribeca apartment that drew Beyoncé’s mother Tina Knowles, her father/manager Mathew, her sister Solange, her Destiny’s Child mates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, and the couple’s friend Gwyneth Paltrow.

Congratulations to the happy couple!! It was about damn time!
