Say Hello To Wyatt!
May 24, 07 by Ballz!Sheryl Crow revealed her new bundle of joy, Wyatt, on the cover of OK. The magazine has yet to be released, but Sheryl is already receiving criticism for her decision to show off her baby. Setting the record straight, of being publicity starved, Sheryl writes on her website:
“I was being heavily stalked by photographers who wanted the get the “first shot.” And rather than have someone I don’t know sell a shot to a magazine, we accepted OK magazine’s offer to make a generous donation to an amazing organization called the World Food Program in Wyatt’s name.. (Please visit their site by clicking on the name or pasting this in your browser http://www.wfp.org)”
Of her new son, she says: “The day he came home, I felt like the whole house had changed. The house felt fuller. You just feel like nesting and making sure he’s acclimated to the world. It is all so fascinating… My mom would hand him to me and say, ‘Here’s your mommy.’ It was really poignant (and very startling) to hear my mom call me Mommy. It took me a while to get used to it.”

hearing my kids call me “mommy” still melts my heart, and I have been hearing it for over 20 years.

Yes babies are sweet no one would ever deny that. However, why do we insist on overlooking the obvious. Single parenthood under the best of circumstances is hard and even harder on the children. I’m sick and tired of these famous women acquiring children as if they’re puppies. Most of these women put off having children to advance their careers so when they hear their biological clock ticking they sprint to the local baby broker and buy themselves a baby. Like the newest Louis Vuitton bag they have to be seen with the newest of hollywood “must haves” - a baby. I understand that Sheryl Crow had cancer and her treatment may very well prevent her from having a child but maybe she shouldn’t have a baby or at least maybe she should’ve waited until she had a partner. Children take time and women with careers lack time. And finally, I know my rant is old fashioned thinking and I know a lot of people will not agree with me, that’s okay. But I am a single mother of 2 daughters and as hard as I thought it would be I ended up wishing it were that easy. I wish all the luck and love in the world to this child he’s going to need it.
