The sultry “Hips Don’t Lie” singer Shakira along with the Red Hot Chili Peppers lead the number of nominations received for the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards. Both Shakira and Red Hot Chili Pepper have received seven nominations each. Madonna follows these two with 6 nominations herself for Video of the Year, her single ’Hung Up’ is nominated for Best Female Video, Best Dance Video, Best Pop Video and Best Choreography.

Beyonce Knowles announced the nominees as MTV celebrated its 25th anniversary.
